Default Aluminum half moon seals source

I thought I found a source for the half moon aluminum but the websites are a wee bit dodgy. It's like it's the same place but different sources. Anyone have a verified place from recently. Like past year or so? Preferable this side of the pond?

The guy in the link below is great. I've gotten all kinds of parts from him. He's been around awhile, and frequents the Jag-lovers forums. Very reliable with high quality parts.

They are good, but Grant swears by the standard OEM rubber ones, which if fitted as he recommends, will see you out!

PM him, and I will try to remember to ask him as well. I seem to remember he just uses some hi-temp silicone stuff on the curved part and a smidge of it on the top surface; but am not quite sure.

Message received.

I used the OE half moon on all the V12 and XK 6 cyl engines.

Nothing special, beer I suppose, but the job is not that long since you have it apart now.

CLEAN the tappet block groove, CLEAN it again.

Hi Temp RTV. I used the Red, as thats all that was out there back in those days. Now, I am told there is Grey, Blue, Black.

A goodly smear, enough to ooze out, on the curved section, place them in the tappet block, a smear (as a dressing) on the top face, and fit the Goretex gasket, and the cam cover.

Wipe away the ooze before it dries, jobs done.

Reality is the OE have lasted 30+ years, and the lousy caretaking the car has tolerated, and never really caused that much grief.

My XK engines, looooooong before the V12's arrived, were done the same way, and are still dry.

Adding to that, I dont use gaskets here, just a bead of Hi Temp RTV, guide suds for setting the cover up, and NO more leaks ever.

One thing to note - with th eOEM rubber seals, if the cam cover gaskets you use are the better more modern style rigid metal/black rubbery goretex stuff 'sandwich', then you have to put sealant between this gasket & the half moon seal, & ALSO between the gasket & the cam cover, above the half moon.
These gaskets work fine between two pieces of metal with no sealant, but as the rubber half moon seals won't clamp the gasket hard , it needs sealant.

Yup. So far, all seems well there. Quality merchandise.

They're smaller than you might expect. And no one will ever, ever see that "Jaguar" logo once they're in place.

What I've removed so far today

So the air pump there wthere things attaches. That one hose that went to the airbox.

Then this hose the one on the right with the white stripe

It goes into a T which is connected to that sensor (pink top) on the right of it and also up the that area with the other hoses (trans vacuum) on the back of the RHS manifold.

What should I do with it?

And then this hard pipe that goes somewhere underneath.

Do I cap it? Or leave it open. I think it draws the warm exhaust as part of that 45 second timer thing.

Anyways I'll leave it and get to something else after lunch.
