Default Boot cove snap fasteners

My recently purchased XJS came without a boot cover. I took a chance and bought one through Ebay. This maybe my last Jaguar/Ebay purchase but no need to go into that.
One problem with the cover that I will have to address is that the front most passenger side snap fastener will not engage the stud at all. It appears that the snap on the cover has been replaced with an incorrect part. I tried the snap from he driver's side on the problem location stud and that worked fine so it is the snap on the cover itself that is the problem. I would prefer to just change just the snap on boot cover and keep the stud section that is on the car if that is possible.
Using a tape measure the fastener looks to be 10mm in diameter (if I am measuring the correct area).
Can anyone tell me the exact replacement size for the snap fastener and perhaps the best place to buy them if they are a standard size? My first thought is a marine supply store.
Thanks.

Sailrite.com often has a good selection of snaps and you might find the correct size there.

When I bought a cover for the convertible top of my Mustang I had to add a couple of snasp at the front edge. I found a selection at my local hardware store. It was in the canvas/tarp rigging area. Hope this helps.

almost any auto upholstery shop should have a multitude of snaps in different sizes.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I want to try to do the snap replacement myself and I want to make sure I have the exact correct snap so it matches the existing stud. I found a dealer in Reno who had some in stock and I ordered two. When I get them I will look them over to see if I want to try installing one without buying a special tool.

Fitting those snap buttons is very easy. The most important things is to have an accurately-shaped recess die or similar on which to place the outer cover before using a centre punch or similar to tap down the centre pin over the retaining plate. This avoids the inevitable distortion of the outer cover.

Good luck

Thanks , Paul.
If I don't have anything that I think will work to fit the snaps I will order something like this.

I have a snap setting tool that attaches to a rivet gun. I messed up the first one or two but after that they were a breeze. Regardless of which tool you pick I recommend ordering a few extra snaps so you can do a practice run on scrap material. The snaps I installed were for a boat cover I had sewn so perfection wasn’t critical but a moment with some scrap material would have improved my overall quality.

Now that is a good idea. I wish I had thought of it before I placed the order.
If I mess up I will have to bite the (shipping) bullet and order more.

That tool you've ordered is exactly the sort of thing you need.
