Default A/C Condensor CBC8540 hard to find...

Hi

My A/C condensor is still tight, but the fins are no longer attached to the channels and a replacement would be good for proper function.

David Manners were the only place I could find it listed as being in stock. I just recieved an e-mail informing, that it's actually NLA and not in stock.

Would you suggest a custom build or a refurbishment of the old condensor ? Or do someone know where to find this as NOS ??

They are available, just not stocked as the old condensor had been replaced a few times IIRC.

I assume, without seeing your car, that it was for your preHE but with HE engine?

Yes, body and also heating and A/C is preHE. The original Harrison with the fuel cooler placed near the compressor (preHE style) rather than along LH air filter has been reused and mounted on the 'new' HE engine.

My original condensor should be CBC2846, which at several sellers is described with same dimensions as the newer CBC8540 and also with CBC 8540 as a replacement for CBC2846.

I didn't check the newer alternatives before, but here it is:
(VIN 184574 to 190528) CCC5326 (no dimensions found, none for sale found)
(VIN 190528 -->) MHD7390AA (different mounting dimensions)

Doesn't look too promising I think ?

I’m often wrong, but I always thought the 4.0 condenser was just a V12 condenser with screw on legs. Assuming that to be true, you could try a Nissens (NOT nissan) 94351 and unscrew the long legs, and perhaps install some short ones.

Nissen is originally a Danish brand, so I’m not confusing it with Nissan.

This condenser looks much like the one for late XJ-S V12 (and may be the same), but it will not be a drop in replacement in my car, which is what I’m looking for in first place.

I may have to change my direction though...

Leo
Part search results from David Manners Ltd - CBC2846
I am quite sure it will be simple enough to get an aircon guy to fettle the connections, if that is even needed,

Thanks, that will fit !
It will be interesting to see if it's actually in stock, as the CBC8540 was also indicated as being in stock until I tried to buy it...

David Manners does not have the most accurate website descriptions ever when it comes to what's in stock and how long it'll take to get.

I love this forum

Thanks a lot for helping me out. I'm not sure what you mean by o-ring type ?
My current reciever/drier is a custom made unit using a Danfoss drier and a viewing glass mounted with flare connections as far as I can see. I haven't pulled it apart yet, but I will do after this weekend.

I will contact you on your webpage to agree on shipping costs
