Hello from VA. My 89 vert is going to have to spend the winter outside. What cover or company do you guys and girls recommends? Cold, snow, and freezing rain an whatever the big guy throws at us. Thanks

Get the car ceramic protection and forget the cover.
They do more harm than good.

 

I have seen something called a car storage bag, which is a two piece cover. You drive onto the bottom half and then the upper half is zipped together with the bottom so you have full coverage. You should also get a desiccant which removes moisture from air sealed inside.

I have no experience with these so I can't give you any first hand knowledge.

 

Thanks guys!! Not sure about putting that on a older original Paint job. Just worried about long term, that is what they said about the clear chip protector when it came out. I guess I do not know enough the about ceramic coating. Would love to here from other people who have a convertible also. Guess my main concern is the liner in the cover sticking to my top like other covers I have had did. Thanks

 

I would buy a car port tarp, id also mist it with warm wax or as above do ceramic coat its in all the stores now. WD40 the undersides if you lack undercoating.

If your roof sticks to a cover just put plastic poly over that bit? Can find at homedepo.

AND SOAK A RAG IN MINT OIL FOR THE ENGINE BAY (should do one inside to) mice hate mint.

Back in 1991 I put a ceramic coating on a 1989 cream color Ford pickup, looked great for a few months, then turned yellowish and started peeling.
I would have to see a vehicle after a few years of that stuff on it before I would ever consider it again and even then doubt I would do it. Bad memories.
Paint on my Jag is original and looks new, so I will only use wax and it stays in garage with a nylon Jag car cover.

 

The most important thing is to keep water from entering the passenger compartment. I used a cut down tarp that would cover the top, overlap the top of the windshield,door windows and the back of the rear window area and junction to the deck. Then I used a car cover over that. I don't use expensive covers, my main concern is to keep water out, prevent bird and tree droppings from staining the paint, and protecting the car from excessive UV exposure. My car spent it's first three years with me outside all year.The last couple of years it's stays in the garage.Now, I have to do everything the cheap way, but could you find a rental storage space?

 

I have bought a couple of covers from carcovers.com They didnt last as long as they said they would but they are pretty good at keeping stuff off the car. You need to use all the fastening equipment to make sure it doesnt blow off in high winds.
They are custom made to fit the specific car and they always fitted well (XJS coupe 1992).
I am not saying they are the best because I have never bought any others.
