Why not do the FL 6.0l intake from the top of the radiator? The air there is cold (except in a jam but that isn't where you'll be needing it).

Basically you need either a 6 cylinder bonnet or a FL one (they are the same). The front radiator crossmember, some piping and the brackets on top of the radiator. Basically it. Con ect to intakes and é voila! A factory COI.

Here is a pic of the OTR intakes on Tom Walkinshaw's XJS at Bathurst. A set of these a little smaller will fit under the older V12 bonnet.

I like those! Didn't know that TWR had them on a prefacelift... I can get away with something like that here!

I like your mod Grant. Many thanks Maaate . . . another entry on my XJ-S "to do" list that is fast looking like a Dead Sea scroll. In particular, I like your use of simple, low cost bits to arrive at an elegant looking solution.

Cheers,

Ken

That is Tom's race car.

BTW when you do add CAI, do not take the air from inside the wheel arch, this is a low pressure area and will do more harm, I did a fair bit of testing when I added a CAI to my WRX years ago and power on the dyno dropped when I added the CAI because I plumbed it so it sucked from the wheel arch, after adding another pipe forward to the lower part of the air dam power went up again.

You need a high pressure area, behind the headlight, over the radiator or beside the radiator.

Yeah, high pressure area is always cleverererer

My XJ sucks from inside the wheel well (in front of the wheel behind the plastic trim). Dunno what they were thinking...

So did both my S Types.

Not now. The intake is in the LH opening of the front skirt that I thought?????? was a brake air intake, NOPE, just air into a "dumb" aperture on each side.

Simple 60mm air duct I found at an a/con supplier, and fed it through to the air box, after, I removed the silly factory intake snorkel.

All of 20 minutes work.

AND, the scratches are now GONE, oops.

The X308 has ducts which I am sure I can tap into...
