Default Dammit -was going so well!

Managed to drop the steering rack and change bushings over weekend, but broke the power steering header tank in process. Now epoxy is saving the local cat population.
Looked around for new tank (round and square) noticed though that as mine is an 87 model, it has the tank from a facelift? Were these sytems reto-fitted?

Anyway, need to look on internet for new tank - unless anyone has one available?!

An internet search suggests these things are scarce in the UK.

If it's one of these types you're after ...............

............ Grublogger | Used Jaguar Parts | Used Jaguar Spares | Jaguar Breakers | XJ-S | XJR-S | XJS are listing both (17th Dec 2012)

At least you'll be travelling in the right direction.

Everyone else will be going the opposite way trying to get out of London!

If, big IF, the colours are the same as for a V12 of that age, the radio wiring as it comes out of the loom is as follows:
  • Red/white (thinner of the two) = ignition switch live input to the unit
  • Red/white (thicker of the two) = feed to aerial relay; live output from the unit, goes live when radio switched on to trigger the aerial motor
  • Purple = permanent live feed for radio memory (this come from the cigar lighter circuit and is on the same fuse as the cigar lighter).
  • Grey/red = radio illumination positive feed, switched on with sidelights
If the radio has DIN plug connectors (the oblong plugs on the back of the radio) the relevant standard pinouts are as follows for the A plug (normally the top plug), reading left to right:
  • Top row pin 3: 12v output to aerial
  • Top row pin 4: 12 volt ignition switched input
  • Bottom row pin 2: 12 volt permanent input (from purple cigar lighter circuit)
  • Bottom row pin 3: illumination input (from sidelight circuit switch)
  • Bottom row pin 4: earth
Hope this helps

Update.
Steering rack and PAS tank all done, and car turns as it should.
Windows sorted and runners greased etc etc. Radio and lighting issue sorted. New boot (trunk) seal fitted and done. Electric Windows done and serviced.
Have small puddles on each chrome kickboard just near front speakers. Going to have a go at this at the weekend before I go out and by some new hardboard and re-do the door cards myself.
getting lots of condensation, and think main culprit is rear window seal.... black silicone?

Okay, the cat is fighting back.
Every morning now when I get in teh car I am greeted by to small puddles on the chrome kick plates just near the front speakers. The door cards are shot - but I alrady knew that - however i replaced the drivers door seal and re-fitted the passanger door seal. the car suffers from A LOT of condensation in the mornings - don't need a de-mister pad, more like a sponge.
Are the door seals interchangable, as it looks as though the can go on either side. Any hints to cure the leak issue?
