Default Darn light does not go off!

The light in the dashboard indicating that one bulb is out does not want to turn off. I have checked every bulb there is inside and outside the car incl. the 2 lights in the trunk and the one in my flashlight that is stored in my non-existing glove compartment .
May this be something else than a blown bulb?

Mine did the same thing to me. had a headlight out (idiot light was on for weeks before I replaced it) and after replacing the high beam headlamp, the idiot light stayed on.. hmmmm I thought. so I disconnected the negative terminal to the battery, (wondering if it was light a check engine light) hooked it back up and BAM... the idiot light came back on =[ ... BUT only for about 2 minutes then went off. Now everytime I start the car, turn on the headlights, and hit the road, the light comes on for a couple minutes and then cycles off till the next time. Not sure why, but I can live with that better than it being on all the time.

Not sure about the '95, but on the earlier cars that idiot light always came on when the lights were activated and then cycled and went out if all was well, stayed on if one was out. Its a time/Lucas thing.

My'85 played silly buggers in the early days and it turned out to be a number plate bulb, it was working, but as dim as hell, and it was the contacts badly tarnished, cleaned those contacts, 15 years later, all good.

The parking bulbs at teh front can also trigger this light.

Again, this is the earlier cars, but the system is more than likely the same basics.

This may be an obvious one but..
Are you sure the parking brake is fully released?

I can rest easy now for certain. Came to the conclusion that it was normal, now I have confirmation, thanks, Grant. Mines a 92 1/2 facelift.

I second the motion. It has about a 2 minute cycle when you first put your lights on, if all is well it goes out.

I will disconnect the battery and cross my fingers - thanks 218and1. My lights stays on ALL the time.

An no, it is definitely not the parking brake light - I know what that looks like as I have driven many miles with the parking break one (how can see the lights during daylight anyway?)

Well, actually what I meant was, if the Parking Brake is on, and the lights are turned on, the Bulb Out indicator comes on and stays on.
Hope the disconnect worked.
