Talking dashboard lights

Hi Guys
I have two symbols lighting up on the dash and I cant really figure them out.
First the handbrake symbol is continuously on even as though the handbrake is disengaged and second , the orange symbol which is supposed to glow when you have a burnt bulb keeps turning on every time I press on the brakes. My car is a 1990 XJS 3.6.
Any ideas anyone?

For the hand brake, check the switch at the base of the hand brake handle, I had a '91 and the switch was tricky, same thing stayed on.

check the switch on the hand brake, it may just sticking and needs a bit of cleaning. also make sure the brake is off. I have a 84 XJS and if its like mine, the handle goes done after it is applied, you then have to pull up and press the button to release it. For the light comeing on when the brakes are applied, (Haven't looked at my manual lately) but I think it does that to let you know the system is okay

The bulb out warning light has a test mode, which is handbrake on, ignition on, press the footbrake and it illuminates if it is working properly. You either actually DO have the handbrake on, or at least the microswitch in the handbrake mechanism is not operating properly.

It is a sod to get at without removing the seat, but then the cover comes off easily and you can adjust the switch.
