Default efi ideas input wanted.

so the motor is all together, and I'm thinking about what I want to put a new fuel injection system on it. so I have a couple ideas,
I have had really good experiences with the FAST efi system, so I was thinking of running two systems one for each bank,
I was planning.on welding a trigger wheel on the flywheel to eventually go with electromotive xdI ignition system, when I have the money.

I am seriously interested in the self tuning systems. we used it on my neighbor's drag car, and it was super easy and userfriendly.

my main concern is will.they work in tandem? I'll call them and get a technicians opinion.

also, I don't have access to a dyno and would not by any means concider myself qualified to tune this thing correctly

Wow that is expensive $2600 for 2 systems and then installation.

If you use a Marelli distributor you could possibly use one of these with 2 ignition amplifiers and 2 coils.

Ask these question.
Can a single unit drive 12 cylinders in wasted spark using 2 coils
Does the system support 60 tooth crank wheel
Does it support dual wideband O2

the fast system I looked at were about 875$ a piece. and the crank wheel will be a 60 tooth which I will install behind the balancer.

the problem with a single efi system is there are a handful that will drive 12 injectors.

the electromotive system used 6 coils with dual outputs.

You do not need to drive 12 injectors sequentially, just batch the injectors as they are now and you only need 4 injector drivers

yes, exactly, but most aftermarket systems have 4 drivers that can only manage 8 injectors. I already had this conversation when I called holly about it

If you are going to use coil packs then you need a system that has 6 coil drivers, either logic level or direct. this way you will run the engine in wasted spark where 2 plugs (the ones on the compression and exhaust strokes) fire at the same time.

This will be due to current draw and will depend on hi or low Z injectors. (deleted as series injector is not a good idea)

Use ballast resistors to reduce current draw

Wasted spark is where 2 plugs are fired simultaneously. So 1 coil driver drives 2 plugs at the same time.

These will be the cylinders that are approaching TDC, one is on the compression stroke and the other is on the exhaust stroke.

Most GM and Ford cars use Wasted spark (in coild pack systems NOT distributor), before the introduction of sequential systems.

Ever looked at Megasquirt?
Megasquirt Product Comparison

I know a guy who runs it on his camaro drag car and likes it a lot. It is DIY to the extreme and is very configurable, which also means that it can be complicated to set up. The upside is that it can run just about anything and you will have full control.

im not really a fan of megasquirt, i helped someone do a setup on their DSM mistubishi eclipse, and it wasn't very user friendly and did not adjust the way i wanted it.

i am actually thinking of picking up an Electromotive TEC3 off ebay right now, that would controll everything at once, spark and fuel. all i will need is a custom trigger wheel.
