Default Facelift Replacement Mats

Is there anyplace that can copy the interior mats for a facelift car?

I have tried to contact several upholsterers and carpet companies and I can't get anyone interested in making up a set.

Has anyone successfully found someone that would make them to order?

I have the OEM ones and am happy to send it out as a baseline, but no dice.

You might want to try Muncie Imports. Here is a url to their XJS interior parts:

At the bottom is their contact info. Good luck and let us know if they were helpful.

I used Lloyd Mats and they made me a set according to my 'stencil' pattern I made and sent to them.
I ordered their recommended XJS mats the first time around and they ones they sent me were obviously for the pre-facelift cars with grommet holes for the mat anchors and a shorter driver's side mat, whereas the facelifts don't have mat anchors and have a longer driver's mat. I ordered blue ones just for fun but found I never used them but maybe 2-3 times.
I have both sets of mats if you would like to see them or purchase one of them from me, however they are custom and are dark blue with silver edge binding.

I decided to stick with the tan+blue Jaguar mats the car came with since they are original. I used my original mats to make the pattern for the custom ones if you would like to see them or have me make you a pattern for them that you can send to Lloyd for your own mats to be made.

Hi Vee

Go to Ebay and look up Item: 153282208701. Looks like an upholstery shop that sells a custom convertible top boot with the Leaper logo and colored piping. If they can custom make this boot they can probably also do your mats I would guess. Might be worth a try. Thinking of getting one of these myself.
I used my OEM mats that came with the car, which basically matched the carpet color and had a colored, vinyl/leather border stitched around the outside of the mat to match the interior (Oatmeal in my case). Looks really good.

Hi Keesh

Just want to mention how great the colors look on both your Jags. That Morocco Red Pearl looks like it was made for that Sedan. Was that Turquoise a standard color option for 96 ? Sure looks good.

Try Paul's Jaguar in Florida.

Not sure what they have these days but many years ago Paul had a huge cache of surplus Jaguar trim items and bulk materials. They made up some trim pieces for my XJ6.

Cheers

It is important that you understand the difference between the original floor carpet panels and the mats that go on top of those. The original floor carpets attached with velcro and a long plastic clip rail that is attached to the underside. The floor carpets also have the vinyl pad attached.
The floor mats sometimes also have a heel pad so a lot of people confuse these two separate rectangular pieces of carpet haha.

Is there a name, or a way to find a suitable alternative product to replace my failing "long plastic clip rail"? I'm not sure how to even search for a similar product online.

I don't think so. I talked to him a few months back and he told me he only has enough mats for people who buy the whole interior.

Well up until now they would create new floor mats for anybody who wanted them. But I guess maybe their supplies is limited as well. The facelift cars floor mats are also held down with very wide strips of velcro. I would suggest using that for your issue.

I have my original mats for my 96 that are in near new condition that I can take photos of if it will help. Hard to believe you can locate these somewhere.

If you could take pictures of the removable mats in and out of the car, that would be fantastic. Pics with the top mats out would show the shape and hold down design of the under-carpet as as I understand, is different from the earlier pre-facelift cars. I'm not sure what color the carpets are but is in Cream interior for my 95 2+2 Conv. The small piece of carpet that is affixed to the plate that covers the seat control box seems to sit above the long under-carpet. Then the top mat sits above it. I think....

CarsnPlanes: I'm stuck at home anyway. I'll take some pics with my camera this morning. Waiting for the sun to get to a point where I have some good natural light outdoors. Since I hhave never tried to post pics on the Forum, best you send me a direct email to: rickr@hydrants.com Afterwards, I'll try to post the pics on the Forum for others interested. Yes, there does seem to be a difference with the Facelift XJS.

OK. Hope I get the pics uploaded correctly here. First try on this Forum. Here are the original mats in my 96' XJS Celebration. These are the mats that came with the car when new.
However ! Note that I had ADDED the custom colored leather binding around the otter edge of the mats to match the interior color. Originally, the outer edge binding was done in a nice loop threaded manner. It looked good. But I just wanted this custom binding which I thought looked good. The "curl-up" on the front area of the mats is just caused by the addition of the custom binding over the original binding. The floor carpet piece under the mat, at the rear is in fact held with a strip of velcro. Pulled it forward a bit so you get the idea.
Hope this helps.
Rick
