Moving the jaguar from California to Arizona. Ran great, didn’t overheat in 105 degree temperatures with a/c on and driving 65-70mph for 350miles about 45 minutes from home had a tire blow out. this is he resulting damage, I had a pretty much perfect original body minus some parking lot dings until now. I don’t know much about body work, is this easily repairable? I saw some “rear bumper covers” for the face lift models on eBay. Is my 1989 Convertiable similar in design where I can replace this piece? I look on the bright side of this - it could have been so much worse if you lost one of your steer tires.
I know there is a lot of threads on this forum about tires, but they are easily the most over looked maintenance item (I believe). They are only good for so long.

The repair itself is doable, not sure how much you paid for your car and what it means to you, but if the mechanical's seem good, I wouldn't sell it because of this.

The link you have attached - I have a body kit on mine, that covers this section of the car, but by the time you buy it, paint it to match your car, and then fit it, will be cheaper to just repair and move on

Definitely don't sell just from that ding. As Van says, that's (relatively) easily accessed in the side pocket of the trunk or boot. The bit right at the front might be harder, mind.
Those "rear bumper covers" are presumably for the later facelifts with the body-coloured bumpers. You'd need to replace the entire bumper probably.

 

Body guy will pull that out no problem. They use a stud welder and a slide hammer, won’t even try to get behind it. Will look 80% better in ten minutes.

 

Agree with Jags... body dudes are amazing with their stud welders.
The weld is very small, to be honest when I first saw the weld I laughed as there is no way that will hold.

If you want it perfect, have the dent pulled out as close as possible, light coat of filler and a paint.
Job done.

Sorry to see your damage but thanks for the post as I would never have believed how much damage a blown tyre could do.

Agree with the last two posts. Body shops can do amazing things now - you can see examples on some of the TV car restoration shows.

Get a quote and then you will know where you stand.

Thanks for all the support I will try to get some quotes to see how expensive it is to fix+ total repaint? Would you guys just go for a full repaint in this case? The paint now is in pretty decent shape, clear coat fading on trunk and hood

When you mean total repaint - the panel beaters will match the paint and just repaint that section, no need to go any further.

In saying that - the most expensive step of the repair will be to match the paint. Just recently, my daughter got reversed into, dented the door and it was repaired under insurance. While it was in there, I got them to paint the rear spoiler, above the rear doors where the clear coat was falling off. They charged me $500, The repair to the door was about $1400 (ish).

So it might be a chance to "touch up the paint". No harm in asking
