Default Fixed this, broke that...(disconnected hose in boot)

Was in the boot cleaning up battery terminals, cables, grounds, etc. on my '91 5.3L V12 coupe daily driver, and noticed that somehow this black cannister and hose (black with white stripe) became disconnected from somewhere. It is right next to the battery on the right front of the boot, and the other (connected) side of the hose goes down into the metal battery cage. There is a clip on the right inner fender wall to hold the cannister. Felt around and couldn't locate any obvious connectors, and can't seem to find a diagram identifying what this is/what it does/where it goes. The open end of the hose smells vaguely of gasoline, so I'm guessing it's part of the venting system. Suggestions welcome.

Up inside the flying buttress is the ECU. On the ECU is a small (about 5/8 inch diameter, and 1/2 inch long) pipe sticking out the side. This hose goes over that pipe on the ECU and gives the ECU the vac signal from the engine cross pipe.

Good idea to find a small clip/cable tie to go round it when you put it back on!

Got it, thanks! Would never have thought to look "up" into the buttress.

Did the car run with this disconnected? Just out of curiosity...

Had to take the car for a quick ten minute drive before I reconnected the hose, it idled rough and felt like it might stall. The left bank in particular seemed to pulse based on how the exhaust felt, but I need a tuneup so it could be something else. Once reconnected everything smoothed out again.

Odd isn't it? I disconnected this hose once with my car running, and it immediately stalled.

Fuel economy is really bad with that house off.
