Default Front end lift

I have a pretty high bump at the end of my driveway and need to exit at just the right angle to avoid scraping the bottom of the spoiler.
Have any of you come up with a method to temporarily raise the front end to clear bumps/humps?
This system is cool but pricey.

Do a Google search for Air Lift bags. It's a supplemental air bladder that goes inside of a coil spring. They're typically used on the rear of trucks and vans for load-leveling. Might be a good solution as they are extremely lightweight and you can let the air out so they'll have no effect on the ride height of the car when they are not inflated. A small onboard pump wired up 2 give you a little bit of lift.

Yep, replace your subframe bushings. Theyre toast. Mine were so gone, it was 2” too low.

I had a similar problem, but parking backwards has solved that. If I enter my driveway going forward, I scrape the concrete ramp a bit, if I reverse in, I’m ok.

It's a common problem. A friend of mine actually cut off the bottom of the spoiler to give him more clearance.
There are a few cars that have a factory option to raise the front end.
What I was wondering is if anyone here has installed airbags or something to raise it up.
I think if someone made a kit to do that it would be a good seller.

even replacing the worn shocks will give you 1/2 inch or more. also tire size if you are running a lower profile

FWIW
My shocks, springs, bushings, etc. are all fine.
Ride height is right on.
This is an issue with the '95, '96 facelift models that have air ducts on the bottom of the spoiler.
It wasn't a problem with my '93 coupe.

Hi Pete

Who owns the 'Bump' at the end of your Driveway?

If it is on your Property, then I would either completely remove it and fill any gaps with cement or tarmac depending on what the Driveway is made from so that it all matches and looks neat

Or at least remove enough of the Hump so that your Car can pass through it

Plan 'B' is to add some Concrete to smooth out the Hump and turn it into a very gentle incline on both sides

Yup. I once had a Jaguar mechanic tell me “my car had been lowered”. I did not walk , but ran out. He had clue what an facelift XJS looked like. I wouldn’t trust him to open the bonnet.

in regards to your issue, I once pondered putting little wheels in the front bumper. I think I saw a Ferrari that had something like that.

I have a 94 with the same ducts. Im still gonna stick to my guns and say that your bushings arent as good as you think they are.

The same bumper cover is also on the 94.
The exhaust tips also drag.

Pete,

If all your components are in good condition and the car is at the correct ride height, then I would just keep the car standard and put two bits of wood where your driveway enters the road, just to lift the front of the car a bit as it exist onto the road.

Cheers

Paul

PS I still owe you a pic of that aerial mount bracket!

If it's possible to modify the driveway, I agree with OB 100%.

Ahh, found it…..it’s not that a car came with it but someone had attached “skate” wheels to their Lamborghini Countach

Google "Pyle Car/Truck Curbside Driveway Ramp Threshold Bridge Track". For about $300, you can fix the bump...

Pete at my old house I had a similar issue the angle from the roadway into the driveway even in SUV's you where forced to go slow in my X350 it was a sideways move

I searched Gumtree which is a site here in Australia where people sell stuff not sure where you are in the world ?

I bought reinforced galvanised steel driveway inserts / ramps there where three of them I only used 1 and a quarter of the three probably could have got away with one but the son's car is ridiculously lowerd and teenagers aren't the brightest sparks!

Went the 1 and quarter solved the problem dyna bolted them in they're there for life
Total cost $250 and few hours labour

The best bit a mate watched me then said he'd buy the other's if I did the same at his place with a few beers included

Total cost nothing and beers for free lol

Not sure if this sort of tech could help in your situation but lot cheaper than retrofitting air suspension just an idea

XJS models are notoriously low but that what makes em sexy lol

Thanks for all the replies but my driveway is not the only place that I have this problem. The entrance to my bank has the same deal as well as other driveways in my area.
I have friends that live down dirt roads (yes, I drive my XJS on dirt roads ;-)) and was just wondering if anyone here had installed airbags or some such on their car.
