Default Fuel Hoses: '89 XJS V12

Replacing all my fuel hoses. They are the originals as they still have the OEM part number tags. I consider myself lucky one of these didn't rupture on the way home after buying the car. Thanks to all the advice contained in the "Stickies" concerned with what to do first after purchase.

Good job - they look bad! It must be conditions that deteriorate these more than age - perhaps even fuel quality/ethanol content in different markets around the world?
The ones on my 1989 car were original with the same tags, & still in reasonable condition, if a bit non-flexible.

My project is currently on hold as I'm waiting on the hose ferrules. So while I'm waiting a couple days for delivery, I'm looking at the injector harness and wondering if there is a video out there detailing how to make up a new harness.

If you do a search in this section you will find quite a few threads and references.

I just took my old harness and laid it out on a table, then duplicated it. I used the old plugs and soldered new wire in, and used heat shrink on the connections. I also moved the injector harness from down in the valley to up on the injector rail. Not super pretty but has been working for 2-3 years now. i spent about $40 on wire and conduit to replace the harness.

I think this is one of the most important first jobs on the v12 and it's awesome posts like this that let folks know just how possible and inexpensive it can be and is. This forum, for the xjs's, is a great forum. It just is. Clear, honest, MATURE and so helpful... Thanks D, and all!

Default Fuel Hoses Replaced, Now What is this??

Guess I overlooked this during earlier inspection. Is it part of the air injection system? Passenger side below air box.

From memory, yes, part of the air injection. it's the diverter valve. A not-very-tight press fit into the back of the air injection pump as I recall. I'll try to find an illustration

Cheers

The valve is item #1 in this illustration:

I recall that it fits into the elbow (#18) at the rear of the air pump in this illustration:

Yes and thank you for the illustrations. It is all there, just disconnected. Probably gonna pull the air box to remedy.
