Fuel pump
Hi all, I recently got a new fuel tank installed, and the smell of petrol has now departed. However my file pump still hums relatively continually, any need to be concerned? I have some long trips planned...thanks!
As long as the engine is running, so is the fuel pump, they go hand in hand,as we say down here.
ALSO
At Ign ON, engine OFF, the pump will run for 2 or so seconds to prime the system, then the ECU timer shuts it down, again deemed normal.

Not impossible. I suggest carrying a spare! Are you sure the feed to the pump is good and the sump tank filter clean?
NO, I did not say that.
The Integrity of said pump is mentioned later by Greg, take note PLEASE, like me, je has a pump go legs up for no reason, and miles from home and the spare pump.
I simply stated that the pump "runs" as long as the engine is runnng.
Mine are/were all fairly silent. Installation is the key, with the foam insulation being CORRECTLY orientate so body contact is ZERO, as will be the noise level.
Age is the main issue with the pump/s. They are NOT "special" to Jaguar, BMW, Merc Early Volvo, etc etc all use the same external pump.
Bosch ONLY is my preference.
