Game time: what’s that noise?

when I start my 88’ xjs v12, I get a strange popping/gurgling/rattling/thumping noise that seems is coming from the right front passenger side. Sounds like the firewall area. It happens at idle but I believe it’s happening at speed too. Seems like it’s actually vibrating or hitting something. Could it be a motor mount? Or a poorly put together transmission mount?

Bad mounts probably wouldnt rattle at idle unless they were..not even bolted in? You can test engine mounts by opening the hood with foot on the brake while giving it some gas in Drive.

hmm... maybe I can get a video with some sound of it. Sounds almost like a rabbit thumping it’s foot on the ground.

Is the windshield washer fluid, or its mount, loose?

Assuming this is a LHD car (since you are in Illinois), I'm trying to visualize what else might be shaking. Is the airbox securely attached to the throttle butterfly assembly? Does the car "run differently" since this started?

It changes with rpms... you can hear and feel it. The engines not knocking is it?

yeah it can be heard outside the car. I picked up my buddy the other day and it was even noticeably louder... I said don’t mind the noise. He was like yeah I was wondering what that was.

yeah, it could be. The ac doesn’t work and even with a new valve doesn’t seem to shut off the coolant to the core. During the summer it’s like driving a coal fired train.

I haven’t had much time to find this noise lately but took it on the highway the other day... going straight down the road at 70 there’s a slight burrr noise but if a slight bend to the right comes it gets quite loud and actually vibrates the car. It sounds like the front right tire is rubbing against something. If though the bend in the road goes to the left there is no noise or vibration at all! What the hell would rub or vibrate in the front right with the wheels turned right?! Like I said the noise can be heard while at a standstill if you turn the wheels. I’m confused! Could the headers be hitting something in the suspension or steering rack?
