i don't have a key to lock the gas cap door. is this something a locksmith could make if i had a blank?

It should be the same as your door key.

 

It depends on the year of your car (at least for UK models it does)

On late facelift cars, the petrol cap key is completely separate from the other keys.

Jaguar Heritage keep records of all the original key numbers for your car, if that helps.

On the first of the facelift cars the door key is also the fuel cap key, but if you have the tibbe door key you will need to get a key made.

 

my car is a 1994 so it has the strange looking key, tibbe key? i'll check with the local locksmith. they had a code for my 60 Impala. they might have one for the Jag.

 

If you've got a Tibbes door and ignition key, sadly, I would be amazed if your local locksmith has a code for the separate fuel cap flat blade key. Even Jaguar dealers can't access the build key codes. Only Jaguar Heritage have access to those records.
