Default gasping @ 4500 rpm

I just took mine out today to a local car show and as i was pulling away i noticed it starts gasping and sounding raspy at about 4500rpm. I have stock intakes and highflow down pipes but is this normal? I feel like it isnt but i wouldn't know. I have the 5speed so it wad locked in 2nd gear when this happened

It's nothing I've ever experienced with mine. My first thoughts would be the air/fuel ratio or a weak fuel pump. Others will chime in I'm sure!

"Gasping"......running poorly, feels like it's cutting out?

Not sure what model you have but if it's a V12 HE with Lucas ignition, your secondary coil might be failing. This typically happens at 3000-3500 rpm, but, still......might be. It's a fairly well known problem

Cheers

Its almost like its coughing and spitting. I think it mighy be fuel and i wont be able to tell untill i get a pressure gauge set up while im running under load

I am going with Doug on this. It sounds like the coil setup is not working.

I was thinking the coil upgrade was $70.

i just looked it up again, and at $35 + $11 shipping you would have to be crazy not to elminiate the old system!
