Default Help - removing fuel filler neck

Had some time to get started with removing my fuel tank today. All was going ok with the one thing left being the fuel fill pipe - How on earth do you remove this? It wiggles about but I just cannot pull it free out of the tank. It doesn't help that I parked that side of the car next to a wall so can't walk round but still.

The rubber flexible pipe which goes between the tank & fill cap came loose ok & rotates, I just can't remove the pipe!

Is there a special trick? Does it unscrew?

Remove all the grommets tighten a jubilee clip around the neck and use a 3 legged oil filter wrench on it, the sort that tightens as you turn it .getting it back in is a different matter

So it does unscrew from the tank? Or do you use that to grip it & pull at the same time?

Thanks, I have one of those 3 legged oil filter wrenches now so will give it a go.

I'm near Basingstoke, so a bit too far to tow all trhe way to Croydon I think, but thanks for the offer

Really weird, I have seen this a few times but never had a problem in my car. It does not have threads, just pops off. People are telling you to twist it because that often helps with removing hoses, it helps stop the "chinese finger trap" effect.
