Default Hidden Antenna Recommendations - '95 XJS Convertible

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a hidden antenna for the XJS and an optimal mounting location? I recently picked up a '95 Convertible with an aftermarket head unit that is soon to be replaced with the Continental TR7412UB-OR. The existing head unit picks up a single FM channel, and quite poorly. I'm expecting that this is due to it being connected to the original antenna, which doesn't get a power signal to raise/ lower when the radio is on or off. I don't want to use the original antenna - no clue if it raises or lowers and no interest in finding out. I'm thinking of a hidden antenna that would mount in the top center of the windshield trim under the center cover and running the cable behind the A-pillar covers, does that seem a reasonable location or would the windshield frame generate too much interference?

Might be easier to find out if the antenna goes up or down....

As mentioned, absolutely zero interest in the original antenna.

There are a few hidden antennae on Amazon. Pick one and try it. If you don't like it, send it back. At the end of the day I think you will find the original antenna, when extended, works better than any hidden one.

The antenna is probably receiving a signal but is simply stuck because the grease in the mechanism has dried out or the antenna was never lubricated and moves too stiffly.
