Default Hot XJS! (heating question)

Hello,

when I drive my car with air conditioning(climate control) in 'off' position, I get a flow of hot air to my legs.

The hot/cold 'slider' seem to have no effectl over it (and from reading instructions it is not clear if it should).

Is that a feature or a problem?

I see that there is a vacuum valve that cuts off coolant flow into the heater, should that valve be closed when the system is 'off'?

Thank you.

When the system is switched off, the flaps that let air into the HVAC unit from the windscreen wiper well (these are at the top of the blower units) should, repeat should, close; thereby stopping any air entering the car. Sounds like yours are not doing this, in which case it might well be the vac line that operates them is detached or the vac unit failed or the linkage jammed.
It is a ROYAL pain to remove the blower units...
