How often should fuel line be replaced?
Having watched my 75 Merc go up in flames when the fuel line split and sprayed gas all over the hot engine, any advice re my 92? Car has only 30,000 original miles but age of car probably more of a factor.

yeah hoses become damaged from heat and oxidation (age). The general rule for fuel systems is usually around 15 years, but its depends on where you live. So it is mostly up to a personal inspection. Generally speaking a car made in 1992 definitely needs new lines
I replaced multiple hoses on my XJS as soon as I got it in 2010 and I live in florida. There is no way any of them will need to be replaced in the next year. Like I said, its mostly up to personal inspection. Hoses are made much better than they were a long time ago, so its worthy investment.
I am in rural Australia where very little is easy to acquire and they were not a problem. Heaps online too, they seem to be a common enough size.

No. Stay far far away from that. There is another company that sells basically the same pack.
The ferrules can be found for like a dollar a piece. So thats 24 bucks. You need like 3-4 feet of hose so another $20 or so. I don't recall how much the seals are for the injectors, but its not 100 more dollars. That is a ripoff.

I think we need to figure out the specs for them, because when you look for ferrules it is hard to find anything that looks llike the ones for the jag. I think this is mostly because a lot of the available ferrules are not flared like the ones that come on the car, but I don't see why that would make any difference.
maybe someone can find a link though, I can't seem to find them again.
It is worth nothing though, that if you have some razor blades and maybe an X-acto set, you CAN cut the hoses out from the inside of the ferrules and reuse them.

Tried to paste image in window, had problems so pasted link instead.
Can't figure out how to remove relay without taking apart bracket assembly. Its lid does not give enough clearance to take relay out and lid is part of bracket.
I'm no doubt missing something basic here!

Various kits sold on the net show 2 longer hoses and 10 shorter ones. I thought each injector required a hose, but since I assume the longer hoses go between the fuel rails that seems to leave 2 injectors without hoses. Does that mean there are only five injector hoses on each side?

there ARE some things that have to come off, but not much is in the way.
I am not a fan of bernard emblems methods or ideas on engineering and car repair (like soldering copper pipes for the cooling system), but his website does have some useful pics and advice, as long as you consult with yourself about whatever it is he is saying. He has several write ups about changing his pre-he rail to an HE rail and eventually fabricating his own. There are probably some useful pictures and ideas there.
