The headlamps in my 77 PreHE is from ‘89 and is the HE type with H4 bulb.
They have 2 small arrows in the glass pointing away from the middle of the car.
I have now been offered 2 lamps from a car, that I’m quite sure is originally from UK. One of the lamps has the UK reg engraved …
These lamps has the same arrows pointing outwards.
3 out of 4 lamps has the marking and arrows placed near the middle of the car. The last one is the one with UK reg marking.
The same 3 lamps has section with slanted lens pattern on left side of the middle, while this is on right side on the last.
My guess is that I have LHD lamps on my car (it passes MOTs…) and that one of the spares is LHD, the other RHD. The LHD spare (my guess) The RHD spare ( my guess)
Light pattern checked. Left lamp is for sure LHD, while the right is quite undefined. Both are missing a lot of chrome on the reflector over the bulbs, not good.
Marking of the lamps is Valeo 480392 and 480393

Quite a few headlights, ex factory, were NOT chromed all over the surface, but just on the parts that required it.
Hi Greg
Do you recall if the non-chrome area could be top of the rear section of the reflector ?
The lamps on my car seems to be fully chrome covered (seen through lens, I didn't bother to remove them to check...)
I've done a load of searches on eBay and the 2nd light is marked as Valeo 480392. That seems to be the the RH light of a RHD car.
Hope that helps
Paul
Thanks. That matches very well with the UK reg engraved in the glass on that lamp. Funny the light pattern is not clearly asymmetric, but that's of course an advantage if I end up in a situation, where I have to use it = breaking my current lamp ...
