While I had the column apart I thought I may as well fix the broken clamp that hold the indicator unit steady on the column.

This is a common problem and is easily repaired. I made a bracket from 1mm panel steel and screwed it to the plastic ring. I used the dremel again to remove the end of the screw inside the plastic ring.

Once screwed in place it does not move around anymore when using the wipers or indicators
