Because sometimes when you order parts online you get what you want and sometimes you get a potato I thought I'd share a good result.
1986 Jaguar XJS Fuel Injector - FJ633 Standard Motor Products - $58.33
This part is a new injector not rebuilt. Comes with a long hose so it can be used in any position. Hose, ferrule, clamp, mounting bushing and seal are all included! Quite a good deal in my opinion. Particularly compared to what some sites ask. $30 core charge.
Sometimes these boards have rules against advertising a site etc so I've left that bit out. If putting the source here is ok I'll add it.
While I am very pleased with the part and it's working very well the mounting bushing that is provided in this kit is useless. It's not the same size as those I pulled off my car or the replacements I installed. These are not tight enough to seat down in their groove and are smaller in outer diameter too. It would not do a good job securing the injector. I used the one that I'd previously replaced on my old injector.
The provided clamp is a fine fuel injection clamp but the hose is the proper size and I simply reused the ferrule. Perfect fit.
That's a Bargain alright! I would be very happy to pay that, as some firms are charging £100 (UK) just for the Hose Kit, plus another £24 for 12 of those Injector rubber seals.
It is not unheard of to sell brand new parts with a core charge. This is often how a supply of rebuildable cores is established.
For just one example, years ago (and perhaps still), GM launched a huge line of rebuilt engines, transmissions, p/s pumps, and other components. In many cases the first few of any part number sold were brand new...but with a core charge. Those early buyers were lucky ! .
So, a possibility in this case is that whoever is supplying these new injectors to Intermotor does indeed want used injectors coming back to be refurbished and sold as 'remanufactured'.
