Installing an XJ6 radio in my XJS
My cassette player and CD function on the radio in my 1994 xjs convertible have malfunctioned. I have a radio from a 1992 xj6 that has all the same functions and appears to be the same radio internally. However the front fascia of the xj6 radio will not fit into my xjs. Can I take the fascia off the xj6 radio and put the fascia from my xjs onto it and have a working radio with both the cassette and CD (changer in the boot) operational?

sorry if thats a sort of non-answer. Like I said, if you wanna know if the fascias will swap, just try it out and then let us know if it worked. Idk what the originals even look like, my XJs has an old sony unit in it.
I've already checked out the xj6 front panel and it looks like I can remove it fairly easily. I need to remove my unit and first make sure the xj6 radio operates correctly. If it passes, then I'll see if the xjs front panel is as easy to remove as the xj6's. I'll post my results. If all fails I guess I can get a new Alpine that will operate my CD stack.
I checked out the xj6 radio by connecting it to my xjs radio leads and it worked perfectly. We then removed the fascia retaining screws on either side of both radios. The electronic ribbon that connected the controls to the radio was the next obstacle. After careful examination and consideration we abandoned the project as we were concerned that we would damage the "ribbon" beyond repair.
However we were able to restore the CD function on my radio and I can live without the cassette player.

Are you talking about the ribbon connector under the radio? There's a tab on the top of the connector that you press down and then the panel can be pulled out.
That ribbon operates the AC controls, I believe.

Does anyone know where the fuel filter on a 1994 xjs convertible is located?

On my 95 coupe, the filter is in the driver side front wheel well behind the rear inner fender splash shield.
