Default Instrument panel brake light is on

Hi,
I am a bit confused about the instrument panel lights associated with the brakes on my 95 XJS. My brake light is on. What does this mean? The reason I ask is because based on what I read along with my not completely understand what I read, I think that there are two instrument lights for the brake system.
Can someone please tell me what they both do? I think one is for the abs system and the other light is just for brake fluid level(?)

There is a yellow ABS light and a red BRAKE light.

If it’s the red one, I would start by checking the brake fluid level.

After that, you’ll probably want to take it into a shop.

The issue turned out to be a bad float in the reservoir cap. I remember Greg in France once saying that could be the trouble. I simply swapped the cap with the one on my 95 xj6 and the light went right out. I only hope that the brake light doesn't come on in my xj6. If it does, at I know what the problem is!
Thanks,
Jomo
