Question Jaguar XJ-S - 1977 Genuine Key SET

Hi there,
does anyone have a picture of the original keys that came with the jaguar xj-s pre HE?
These are the keys I received with the car I purchased.
Two are replicas and one is original.
I would like to buy keys that look more like the original, I found these:

https://www.sngbarratt.com/English(U...6-d52e837fa2f0

https://www.moss-europe.eu/it-it/key...8aAuH7EALw_wcB

Thanks in advance

Antonio,

I don't know if they changed in the first few years of production, but I have a 1979 model and think that most, of not all the keys are original.

I'll be with the car later this week and will take some photos if that helps.

Cheers

Paul

Antonio,

I finally got to the Storage Unit where my 1979-made pre-HE is kept.

I have 4 keys:

A Door lock Key. This is the original British Leyland key with the black BL-logo'ed plastic protective sheath
A boot lock key. This is the original BL key with the logo on the key but no plastic sheath
An Ignition key. These were made by WASO with a black plastic WASO-logo'ed sheath
A Petrol Cap Key. Again made by WASO, stamped with their name but no sheath.

Hope that helps!

Paul

PTJS is spot on. Here are the keys for our 1977 XJS. It is a true 30,000 mile time capsule. Still has its air dam in front!

Nice to know my set are clearly the original ones! Even if the plastic sheaths are not quite as perfect as those 30,000 mile ones!

Question

Thank you very much Paul for your help!!!
Wonderful key set!
As far as you know the gas cap with key were standard on the early XJ-S?
I've an ordinary cap without key on my car.
Anybody out there has a picture or a link of a waso gas cap?
Maybe this one?

Thanks for your help!
I' ve never seen for sale the second key (starting from the leff)

Is it out of stock?
Does anyone produce a passable replica of those key?
Thanks

No. my 1979-built car uses a black plastic-covered one, which I believe to be original.. A 1977 car may, or may not, have used a different sort?

From memory, mine is very similar to this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196879152...Bk9SR9ShhOKVZQ

I'll take a photo at the weekend.

If you go to eBay.co.uk and type "Waso petrol cap", you'll get lots of results, including NOS examples.

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul,
did you check the petrol cap of your car?
Mine has a simple cap without key.
I'd like to buy one similar to yours.
Thank you!

Haven't had a chance to get to the car, but I'll be with it on Sat morning. I'll get a pic then.
