Default Kickdown Case Connector TH400 Case Slot Broken

Hi everyone,

I was just in the process of putting in my new "cat delete" exhaust from SNG (which is sweet by the way), and noticed I had a little leak from the side of my trans, and it turns out the slot that secures the kickdown case connector is broken. Normally, you would push in the connector and then turn it counter clockwise to secure it, but the slot is gone. I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue and come up with a brilliant soltion. I was thinking I would try to make something and use one of the unused bolt holes to hold it in, and then put a bunch of silicone around it. I have also been tempted to skip the making something part, and just try to glue it in with a bunch of silicone, as it doesn't seem to be under a lot of pressure. Maybe double up o rings? I have attached pics

I realize the gasket doesn't look great either, that may also be a project soon, but this one seems more pressing since its a hole in the side.

Any ideas of a better solution? Thanks everyone!

Thanks Doug, was thinking that too, but what to weld? Do I just make a little cover out of JB to hold it in? I don't have the piece that broke off...

Yup.

You don't want any JB in the hole itself. Install the switch and then use the JB on top of the switch. A "cover", as you say. Since it isn't a loaded/stressed situation it should hold fine.

The connector is held in with three tabs that lock on the inside. the slot is merely there to keep it from rotating and twisting up the wires. To get it out we used to use a box wrench on the inside pressed over the three tabs to compress them, probably could use a socket. It means a pan removal. Trying to remove it from the outside may result in broken tabs.

Thanks Michael! I am going to replace the connector, I am guessing those tabs are just worn out and not holding. That will be a much cleaner solution, thanks again for the guidance!
