Default Loud "ticking" or "clacking" at startup

Well, everything worked perfect for a day or two :-).

On cold start up, loud "ticking" noise (not a lifter), almost sounds like metal "clacking" on metal, but isn't. Only does it first start, will not do it if I start, shut down, and re-start. Runs great once it starts.
Might even be arcing in ignition, but I do not have a clue at this point. Anyone have a guess?

stops the very split second engine starts. Only makes noise while turning over to start.

So if you disconnect the fuel relay (forcing a no start) will you get the noise continually as long as the starter is cranking ?

Thinking it may be the Bendix not engaging fully. Will check that this weekend and let everyone know if that is it.

A tooth missing from the ring gear (not so common).

The Bendix is slipping (sort of common).
