Default LPG installation on an XJR-S 5.3

Question is, do i keep the LPG or get rid?

The car is immaculate and totally original except for the LPG that was fitted buy the previous owner three years ago.

My thoughts are that I would prefer the car to be completely original.... maybe keep the absurd car phone but at least that's of the time!

It has an 80 litre tank that fills the boot and a gassing point mounted in the rear wing accessible from outside, so it's impractical and ugly.

Removing the system will cost me nothing as the installer will takes the parts back in lieu.

What would you do?

I would be very concerned about the condition of the gasoline system. If it has not been used in many years it is possible that the tank has rust and the hoses are dry. The entire system needs to be checked and repaired as needed. Could be costly.

If you don't mind the cost of R&R to the fuel system and the running cost of gasoline then I see no issues in removing the LPG system.

WHAT !!!!!! do you know how much that system must have cost to install.......And at the cost of petrol today, for gods sake keep it and drive happy on LPG...Just sayin'

You can remove the spare wheel and put a 'donut' LPG tank there.

I would keep it for the fuel savings alone. If its property installed with good kit your ahead.

The gasoline side works perfectly..... we blasted half a tank getting the car back.

The cost of the system was £2,000 three years ago but given I'm only going to be doing 1,000 miles...... do I need to save on LPG? If I was doing 12, 000 a year..... different story.

I think it's coming out.

here the kits normally start the car with petrol and auto switch over to CNG or LPG after starting... so the gas system is not usually removed and in most cases the petrol system is in good order... on CNG systems there a is wait until the coolant is at temp, because it is coolant that is used by the pressure regulator to keep it from icing up (going from 2500psi to 130)

I would keep it...

here CNG is $2.05 a gallon equivalent... if we were not have gas being 2.39 or so a gallon I was going to convert mine... ahh but a lase gas prices crashed here from near 5.00 a gallon to 2.39...

would not pay to convert... though if it was I would not convert it back... having 2 fuel tanks is a boon, doubling your range?

and you can always claim you have a "GREEN V12" maybe a tax break... look into it...
