Default Mirror switch

Just wondered if it’s possible to clean the insides of these at all? Like you can strip the window switches and clean those. I’ve an intermittent fault on the passenger side and wondered if the toggle switch pack can be serviced? All assistance appreciated as always.

I've done it, but it's a PITA. The backside of each switch is held together by press fit brass pins. You have to lever them out with something like a brad remover tool. Once the back is off, the switch can be disassembled. There is a very fragile ring of copper inside that forms part of the contacts, and it is frequently corroded to pieces. If so, game over for that switch. If it's OK, clean it and the other contacts inside and reassemble. Some dielectric grease will help prevent corrosion. The operation of the switch is non-obvious, and is about the dumbest design I've ever seen. Then they put it in an area where it can get water intrusion, and pray it works. Typical Lucas junk. If there is a substitute that would come close to replacing it, I'd love to find it.

Jal is dead right. I have tried to fix the switch and ended up with rubbish. Buy a good used one that works is my advice!
