Need to buy parking brake switch
Hello, I´m new to tis forum and need to purchase the following parking brake switch because it is connected to the convertible roof, which doesn´t open without it.
If not available, what can I do to operate the roof without the switch?
JAGUAR DAC 3351 Parking Brake Switch. OEM - New. Manufacturer - BURGESS, UK. Manufacture code VCFY 1887. Fits XJS from (v) 139052 to (v) 226645. Also Series III saloon.

Haars1001,
You haven't sad what year and model you've got, but I expect you've got 3 options:
- Buy a used one from an XJS breakers. It really shouldn't be difficult as they are the same for Coupes and Convertibles
- Fit the switch that was fitted in the late XJSs - JLM20012. I'm guessing it will fit ok.
- Just bridge the wires. The handbrake light will be on all the time, but at least you can open the hood.
Good luck
Paul

Need help locating and repairing parking brake switch
So new to working on my own car - but love this car -mechanically inclined & usually a pretty good diagnostician- am ordering manuals as I find them but meanwhile:
anyone have pics or can describe the look, exact location, and how to access, the parking brake micro switch
and anyone who has experience with the electrical system and wiring issues that are common for accessories lights seats and hood operation - my tach has never worked consistently and now drivers seat control grounding out without touching buttons - very disconcerting to be driving down the road and have the seat begin to move!! Lol
believe some water got in the drivers door and drained out into floor on drivers side so I am assuming that is either the cause of short or corrosion & cleaning drying out will resolve.
I am also looking for a pic or description of exact location on the manual to electric switch for hood.
Thanks everyone

Shannon,
The micro-switch for the handbrake is at the base of the handle covered by a little black plastic cover, held in with one screw.
The switch to bypass the pump for the hood is on top of the pump. a purple T-switch. You just turn it 90 degrees. In case you didn't know, the pump is located above the battery. 2 turn-buckle plastic clips to remove the cover in the boot and you'll see it.
As regards the other issues, I suggest you'd be better off starting a new thread.
Good luck
