Default Need a New Battery for my XJS 5.3 V12

Hi Guys

I need a New Battery for my XJS V12 (The more CCA the Better) and would like to have your Recommendations

The Size of the Battery Tray is: 242 Long X 175 Wide X 175 High although the Height is not that important as I will make my own Battery Clamp to Support it so if it is Higher than 175 that doesn't really matter

Ironically the 4.0L can take a much Bigger Battery with More CCA so Pauls (ptjs) recommendation was spot on with the 780 CCA Lucas which it seems to need to spin it over

This is in Total Contrast to my XJS V12 which has such a perfectly balanced Engine, that just for Fun I was able to Start with my Ride On Lawn Mower Battery!

But even so I want to buy a Top of the Range Battery with plenty of CCA, if you have any suggestions?

The Last BatteryI bought gor my V12 was an Exide Excel EB620 62AH but if I can fit one with more CCA then so much the better and for once I'm disregarding the Cost as the quality ones are all around £80 and so I would rather pay that than have a cheaper version let me down

Exide Excel EB 620 in my XJS V12

Hi OB.

That battery tray is designed to take an 075 Battery. It's quite difficult to get a battery much over 540A in that size. Yuasa do a 640A one which is about the biggest you can find. Price would be about £80 delivered from Tayna or £83 with a Trade card from Halfords as at today.

Cheers

Paul

i haven't tried it, just used their lookup.

Hi OB,

When you decide which battery to go for I can certainly recommend Tayna (google for website). I bought one from them for the 3.6 XJS and also for both my modern cars. Competitive on price and I think they all arrived overnight on standard delivery.

Cheers,
LeeP

Hi Guys

Cheers! Paul (ptjs) Lee P @ Nickr 76

Tanya do an 075 (aka) EB620 62 CCA for around £80 of exactly the right size and so I think I'll go with that, although I might need another 2 so I can use it to start up my latest acquisition?

Hi OB,

In case you were concerned that the Yuasa is apparently 1mm too big, if you look on other websites it is quoted as the standard 075 measurement of 242mm.

Good luck with whatever you choose. Looking to hear about "the latest acquisition"!

Paul

Hi Paul

Maybe its me but I do like the look of the Exide, with what appears to be a very Tough Case

But as far as my latest Acquisition goes: its going to need Twin Batteries, as some of them do

Hi Nickr

Its not so much the dimensions but the Price that's putting me off

I've bought Cars for less than that and I'm not even sure that we have that make in the UK

But in any event 'Thanks' anyway, as all information is useful and appreciated by us all

Alex
