i would get an aftermarket trans cooler, and take that BS up with the seller. those transmissions put out well over 100 psi on the high side of the pump. i dont know what the output rad line pressure should be.

The rad fittings for the oil cooler changed about with the 1988 models, from push-on plus worm drive clip to screw-on fittings for the trans lines. The push on work fine, by the way. Either take the rad back and ask for the later model with screw on fittings, or bodge up the hose ends as required.

Good advice about an extra trans cooler though!

so apparently the output line pressure isnt that high.

trans cooler should be a requirement anyways. ive seen too many good jags die because of bad radiators leaking coolant into the trans and trans fluid into the coolant.

The later Rads had more fins and cool better, I found this out when I had mine re-cored the guy told me there were 2 different cores

There is line pressure at those fitting. No problem with hose clamps. We use them on the fuel system and if dead headed the pressure goes quite high with no problems. Some manufacturers use hose clamps on A/C lines.

Early cars had a hose with clamp connection, later cars have flare fittings.
