Default not another modified XJS

Thought I'd share a couple of photos of my Jaguars....mostly XJS

Always liked the DB7 shape and knew that the floorpan and some mechanicals were the same- so had an idea. Outrageous to some I'd expect but the XJS that I used was a rust bucket so nothing ventured nothing gained and after all it was a hobby.
All original XJS apart from the bodywork

This shell is all grp and I bought a XJ 3.2port with manual gearbox for the change over but have decided against breaking that Jaguar because the wife is still using it.

Went to a local hill climb earlier this year and was impressed with an old XJ6 blasting up the hill...........well, thought I'd have a go in a couple of years with this XJS V12 auto - manual if all goes well,
Using all the mechanicals from this to keep costs down.

Only steel tube and some grp materials needed

I'm very interested in learning more about the work required to change the XJS to a DB7. Where did you find the DB7 body?

SWMBO has one parked here !

and I can't ask here to move it.........she can cook where as I can't so for an easy life just say nothing and smile
No-Actually bought individual used panels from breakers with the rest fibreglass and bondo to join in the gaps

As for the work involved in the transformation I worked from the doors outward.
New outer door skins fitted but I used the original XJS door handles/locks to save some work.

Front wings positioned then showed up the differences in the bonnet/hood landing panel. A slight trim towards the front was needed to give the correct profile.
Air con rad was removed to give bonnet/hood clearance. Could have lowered it but sun doesn't always warm us up over here.....just open the window or hide from the rain and snow
Front end bonded to outer wing/fenders and bonnet attached.
All these early DB7 parts are plastic fantasic with NO rust issues.
Rear end needed a bit more work to get a reasonable shape.
Could have left as but had a go.

Wow! What a project. Looks pretty good so far. Would love to see some more build photos and photos of the finished project. Not to slight Jaguar but an Aston Martin is always a dream. Good work.

First pic is cool. Can we have more in that state of existence?

1st car is gone. Bit the dust when it turned to rust.

I did not like the rear end shape that was appearing so the panels from this XJS were used on the 2nd car....the all fibreglass car.

That XJS provided all the running gear for this 2nd attempt and the rear end bodywork was more pleasing to my eye. Bonus was more inside room.

I'm still trying to get to this stage before my 3 score years and 10..................

The orange hill climb car is slowly taking shape. Dreading the time to start on all that electrickery wiring?
Will be looking for advice from forum members on this injection wiring as we go along.
My limit is points and carbs

So.....2 on-going projects that'll be hopefully completed in a year or so.
No rush as it is only a hobby.

Rear end taking shape on the orange hill climb car

Deading the time it comes to wire it up
Any quick pointers on the ECU hook up?
or just follow the workshop manual wiring diagrams.
Difficult being colour blind.
