What kind of car? engine?

If a v12 you have to be very careful to get a thermo with the right 'throw' so the rear disc properly blocks off the bypass port when the engine is warm and vice-versa when cold. Many thermostats listed for the V12 are rather generic and don't do this.....not properly, at least.

Grant will be able to tell you the distance/measurement of the required throw.

The one you've linked to might be perfectly OK, I dunno.

Cheers

Thanks Doug.

Not much real info on that Stat.

You need an 82c Stat, with an OPEN length, as in TOP disc to Bottom disc of 43mm.

Stats open 8mm as a general rule of thumb.

Measure that stat right out of the box, and if the "closed" length, disc to disc, is around the 34-35mm mark, you are OK.

The distance of the mounting lip, TO the by-pass port, in that engines housing is 41mm.

I use a Dayco DT18A, or Tridon TT228-180. Tridon talk F degrees for some strange reason.

Any half decent Parts Mob should be able to convert those numbers to whatever they sell.

Still unsure, ask, coz to overheat that engine will destroy your Christmas Spirit in a heart beat.

Correct they need "jiggle pins" which act as a burping device to not allow air pockets at the t-stat ( or up / down stream).

Having said that, you also need to follow refill / air removal instructions to burp the entire system.

If no jiggle pin, simply drill a 3/32" hole in the large disc, and fit the stat with that hole at 12 o'clock. There is always a fix.

Bleeding is relatively simple.

I wrote this a very long time ago, still applies/works today.
