Out of the body/frame shop after 2 1/2 years
In June I found a shop that let me rent their outside lift. Hired an after hours mechanic. We had the front subframe swapped in about 5 hours. I had to leave the states before we completely finished, but the guy I hired was reliable enough to finish buttoning things up and moving the car to my garage.
Wow it looks really good after all the work. Sometimes you simply have to do things yourself. Cause no one wants to, or cares enough to do it right. Or they set out to cheat you from the git go. I hope you put the crook in jail if you ever find him.

Thanks for the compliment. I am still shocked to have brought it back to this after the accident. I am only on the east coast of the states 2 or 3 weeks a year. I was a bit overwhelmed by the frame job, but I should not have been.
You are right. Most things you have to do yourself.
ive got one week left here in Baltimore. I still need to finish painting my TVR, and yanking the engine out of the 928 to do cam cover gaskets.
Then its off to Vancouver to recover my sailboat and rebuild the hydrolocked engine.
sometimes the fun never stops...

It never ends...
Took the car out for a test run to the Annapolis Boat Show today. Coming off an exit ramp, the left front wheel starts clunking.
Pulled over and limped to a garage. Turns out the shop that finished the front subframe for me forgot to put grease in the front wheel bearings on the drivers side. Both bearing disintegrated. Wheel center cover melted. Rubber seal melted. Spindle is so scored it is trashed.
The inner race for the outer bearing welded itself to the spindle. We had to cut it in pieces with a torch to get the hub off.
So why do I just shrug and attribute it to driving a Jag....

It's not the car's fault! But as you have found out the hard way, the only way to look after an XJS properly is to do it yourself!
We all admire your stoicism and tenacity, which is part of the ownership requirement...
