Radius arms
Forgot to add the bushes were replaced a couple of years ago and are all good. I had a garage sort this one for me as I haven’t got a press to install the bushes. I wonder if the arms have been put back on the wrong side as I know the bushes can only be pushed in from one direction. What you guys think.

Still, though, I'm not sure this should happen. The bushings are are very tight fit....or should be.

I thought as much. Been ok since I had them done but we did go out last Sunday on a car club run and I did give ti some beans a couple of times. Well I’m on holiday this week so can get them sorted.

If you have an anti roll bar on the rear (you probably do not as many cars don't) those triangular fittings are what it connects to on the arms.

Been looking online and it seems that the bushes are installed correctly with the radius arm lip at the top. I can only find images with the bush this way round. Even new arms with bushes installed are like this. I really don’t know.

If I push the bushes out and fit the the other way round that would mean when the arms are refitted the triangle bracket underneath the arm would be facing down. Is this the correct way these should be fitted??

On my 1989 the triangles are facing up.
Did you push the bushings in the last time? If someone else did, is it possible they either didn't notice the lip and pushed over it, or maybe they saw the lip and "cleaned it up" for you?

Show's how much I know! My sincere apologies for leading you astray. I have just gone to the garage to look at my genuine factory spare arms. Lip upwards, just like yours! SO why the bushes are slipping I have no idea!
I am fixing my erroneous posts above. The triangle is definitely upwards.

No probs Greg I just thought I was going mad Ha ha. So as you say why have the arms pulled off the bushes. Bushes were purchased from Manners and fitted by my local garage. They are not metalastic branded. As far as I’m aware the IRS mounts are all ok but I will have another look tomorrow.

I thought it was just the rubber part of the bush that was crap not the whole thing. I suppose if they aren’t made to quite the right diameter then this could happen not quite tight enough in the arm ring. Best I get my wallet out then 😂

I wonder if the mounting bolt wasn't tight enough.....
I'm thinking the bracket should be in contact with the bushing (which it appears to be), which if fully inserted in the arm (which it seems to have been), is in contact with the mounting boss on the floor pan, and when the bushing is fully seated, the bolt is then torqued to 45 foot pounds.
It looks to me like the bush has not only moved in the arm, but isn't fully seated to the body mount.
I wonder if the bolt loosened (maybe that's why they have security wire holes), not enough to fall out (caught just in time?), but enough to allow the bushing (for whatever reason) to move in the arm, the arm prevented from moving any farther by the floor.
Having done my own radius arms less than a year ago, I think I'll inspect them, just for my own peace of mind.

Right quick update. I have just now tapped the bush out of the arm with a hammer and a drift not a bloody great lump hammer just a normal hammer. I could easily fit this bush with a vice. So Greg yes you are definitely correct that the bushes are indeed *****. Metalastic on order.

The thing is, assuming the cup is seated properly on the knob, the bolt would hold the cup OK; but the arm could still ride up on the bush until it hit the floor of the car. A loose bolt, if the bush decends, would also mean a loose cup on the knob, and that would create a rattle to wake the dead!
