These calipers are cheaper to make and more reliable with fewer pistons and seals.

I thought so cause I saw some pads avertised on ebay and they looked (modern). The type where you must REMOVE the caliper to change them. As far as I'm concerned this is a step back from a simple change. Bud
If JDHT is to be beleived, the front brakes remained the same old 4-piston, fixed caliper design even after the rear brakes were moved outboard (and went to a floating caliper design)

Yeah, you gotta be careful and know exactly what you're looking for.
Sometimes you'll see the same catalog/parts listing error on several different webpages/vendor listings.
I suspect some of this goes back quite a few years when parts suppliers transitioned from paper catalogs to electronic catalogs and some stuff got lost in the translation....and never corrected unless the error concerned high volume parts.
Of course the odd parts listing errors have been around since....well...forever.
