Default rear axel help

can anyone tell me what is this part and how can i replace/fix it ?

That is the Transponder for the Speedometer

That's your speed sensor. Speedo and trip computer use input from this.
never needed to replace one so l can't comment on availability.

My first question is how do know it needs to be replaced? What is not working.

Also when installing make sure you have the plastic shims so the nose of the VR does not touch the reluctor.

im guessing it needs to be replaced because he tore the wires out of it. but yeah that is the hall effect sensor for the speedometer.
