I was going to do this and get a replacement aluminum radiator until I realized I could just run a gallon of metal rescue in the system

What is 'metal rescue'?

A safe non acidic rust remover, I'll be pulling the coolant filter soon here will post pictures of the inside filter element after running this stuff for a week.

V-XJ6,

So, you drained all the coolant and then ran 1 gallon of Metal Rescue in the car (instead of the coolant)?

I see how it can clean the rust in the radiator. But is it safe from other perspective (other parts coolant gets in contact with while circulating)?

No just added the jug in with coolant and ran it for several days, the product is neutral and doesn't dissolve rubber or other materials I've put about 2000km on the car since then and only noted the substantially lower temps which were confirmed while it was at the shop earlier this week.
