Replacing drive belts
This is probably a dumb question from a XJS novice. I want to replace the AC/alternator/fan belts and the hood is blocking the front of the car. How do you guys do it? Please don't tell me I have to remove the hood...
It's easy - takes an hour. And you don;t have to remove the hood.
First remove the air cleaner and ductwork so that you have clear access to the alternator. Working from top and bottom, loosen all of your adjusters. The AC belt comes off first and the alternator belt will fit up over the fan - very easy to do. Install your new belts, adjust tension and away you go.
