How hard to get the pistons out?
Did you use the compressed air trick to get them out?
Yes I did. The one caliper pistons came out with only 25 psi.
The other caliper one came out at 50 psi and the other at 100 psi.
what i did was take the dust boots off and spray with penetrating lube, also take the bleed nipple of and then you have a hole on either side to spray directly into the back of the chambers with more penetrating spray. Put it back in to seal that hole before using air
The trick with dual pistons is you need to keep them in to move them both. So once one pops out, I use a piece of wood between them, I put it back in and hold it with a c clamp so you can work on getting the other one out. If it comes out a bit then doesn't move you take the channllocka and grab it and try to rotate it to brake it free. Once u can rotate it it will usually pop out. Once they pop out once they only take like 10 psi to move again. Then just take them both out almost all of the way then use your hand or channel locks to pull them completely out.
If you don't have a compressor a grease gun will work but then you have to spend time cleaning out all the grease out afterwards.
For me it was worth rebuilding but it might not be for you.
It cost me about 125 bucks for all 4 pistons and the repair kit.
Remags would have been about 160 each (includes core deposit) and about 50 for shipping.
I got remags on the front and after I sent the cores back due to the cost of shipping I ended up getting 6 dollars back.
So I actually saved. And if I did find remags locally it was over 200 dollars with core but before 13% taxes and each caliper would have been 125 dollars.
If this was all I was fixing a would get remags but because I'm doing lots of work I need to save money where I can and rebuilding isn't that bad.
Also put the dust boot on the piston first and slide it so its hanging over the back of it. Makes it easier to install it and then when you slide it into the bore it will slide into the front part of the piston nicely. Our set cover is different than the videos out there. That metal ring that holds it down is a little tricky but you'll figure it out just don't tear the boot.
Been trying to get these stupid bushing sleeves out of the radius arm for an hour. Made the cuts with the hack saw but not deep enough to scratch the actual arm. Won't budge at all. I even made 2 cuts 1/4 inch apart and can't even get that to pop out.
Have you got a dremel tool or similar? A small cut off wheel can let you make the slit all the way through the outer ring of the bushing without cutting the arm
Or the other way is a cold chisel and big hammer and collapse the ring inward, then push it out of the arm.
Screw those damn radius arms lol. I'm done with those. The shop can figure it out.
So in preparation for the bolt to show up I have to take this apart. The nut won't come off though. I don't have a 48mm wrench. Tried the channellovks but no moving. I made sure all the fins on the washer are down so not sure what else to do.

No work on Jag today. just waiting on parts. Still kinda raining and chilly. Should clear up tomorrow and I can do some painting and more cleaning of parts.
Need to tidy up the garage and clean some tools for the rebuild too.

hard to get an idea of size from your photo, so maybe they are the small end of the radius arm bushes?
However, if they are they the six shot bushes for the front of the front suspension cage, you will need to remove the outer steel tube from the originals and squeeze it over the new bushes before fitting them.

Small for the rear. Don't get me started on the front suspension already lol.

Put another order in today. Will be here next thrusday. All thats left to order will be the 4 rear shocks.
Maybe someone can answer but is it hard to put the shocks back in once the cage is in the car? I didn't really look. Was thinking maybe I can put the cage back in while I wait for the shocks to come in.
I'm hoping to have it all in by end of month if no issues arise.
Putting the shocks in with the cage already mounted is quite doable. But yo have to string up the lower wishbones to do it, or they flap about in the way. getting a spanner on the outside-the-cage end of the top fixing bolts is a bit of a wriggle though.

Ya i was kinda looking back at the pictures from taking it apart. My wife's asking me what I want for bday/fathers day which is a few days apart usually. Maybe 4 new shocks should be on order lol.
Lifted the front end up today to be level with the rear. Shiponed out what I could of transmission fluid. Ready to drop the pan to replace the filter probably tomorrow.
