Default Shakey side mirrors - is this normal?

I'm finally getting my 91 convertible back on the road after replacing the radiator, and notice that there's a lot of vibration in the side mirrors. It seems to be from road imperfections, cracks, bumps etc, not vibration from the car, and also seems to be mainly just the glass mirrors themselves, not the whole mirror assemblies.

I know the roads around here are pretty rough, but the vibration seems worse than it should to me. Is this normal for these cars? Is it possible to tighten up the mirror mechanism or is this just something we have to live with?

Thanks, Eric

Not normal, Eric. The mirror glasses have round plastic 'pop' extrusions on the back that click into round holes on the adjuster motors behind. If you are careful you can pop out the mirrors and see if the motors are shaking about somehow, or even if one of the three pops is not popped. Also, check the fixing screws into the door are tight and that the sprung neck of the morror is not loose on its fixing.

No, they should be tight and only move with the car body. I have a broken spring base in my driver's door and it is still vibration free.
