Default Sourcing two wing mirrors for XJS HE 1988

Hi all.

A few years ago, someone stole both wing mirrors off my 1988 XJS HE V12, the little varmint! It’s been in storage for about 5 years, and I’m about to begin some work to get it back into shape.
I don’t know the part number(s) for the mirrors, and I can’t seem to be able to locate a pair online.
NOTE: These are the manual mechanism, not the powered type.
Can anyone advise on sourcing a pair via your network of suppliers? I attach a couple of the only photos I have.

Thanks,
M.

M.

All the part numbers for every part of the car are on the Jaguar parts website. See here for the section on mirrors for an HE:

Genuine Mirrors For Jaguar Xjs Sports Coupe/convertible 1975 - 1996 Classic | Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts

To help your search, the same mirrors were used on 1984-1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneers so you might find some on eBay or a local wrecker. They were also used on some 80's Rolls Royce models, but those will be overpriced.

Mac,

The Rolls ones are similar but they don't have the same mount using the external screws on the XJ-S. Also, they are electric. I believe the Jeep ones are available using the remote cable mechanism as per the early XJ-S.

The later Grand Wagoneers came with power everything including the side mirrors. Either '84-'91 or '87-'91 should work. There was one other car that used those mirrors, but I can't remember it.

I have this pair, in Canada.for $100 Can/56 Pounds plus post.
Canada Post is on strike at the moment, so hopefully you find some closer.
If you want them and can wait a week or so, I will get a quote by surface ( 4-6 weeks) or Air.in 1-2 weeks

Thanks, Rob

Thanks Rob, I’ll take you up on that offer. If you can get a postal quote in the next week or so, and message directly, we can organise transfer of money etc.

Thanks,

Left hand drive are differant I believe the range of adjustment is differant. Unless that's just the powered ones.
There's one here, £38 & free post, can't go wrong,

May not be important to you, but something makes me think that the mirror glasses are different between LHD & RHD mirrors to allow for the different focal length from drivers seat?

I don't to be argumentative, or be seen to be encouraging a sale, but the mirror glass on each of the side-view mirrors I have are the same.
Certainly, later, cars did come with a passenger side glass altered, and with a warning on them - see picture of later type.
I held up the 2 mirrors I have for sale, and focused them on my house 50 yards away, side by side, at the same time. The image was the same.
I was unable to take a picture of this because I would need a third arm.

Anyway, good luck whichever way you go.
Cheers,
Rob

DO you know if the glass is different?
It would be good to know, I have had to super glue mine in position as the insides had come lose and I could not get the clip t hold. I tried a few times but no.
Being in NZ I thought some left hand drive mirrors might work, did not think about the different glass....

cheers
