Default Steering Rack for ‘92 XJS - Jagbits?

Hi! I’m having trouble finding a replacement rack for my ‘92 XJS. Jagbits has one listed in their website. Does anyone have experience with Jagbits, good or bad? Thanks in advance.

Jagbits is a good business. Expensive (IMO) but good.
I heard that they bought the inventory from Coventry West.
When I checked with Coventry ( a couple of years ago) they wanted $450 for a rack.
When I called Jagbits recently they quoted $750.

Thanks very much. I appreciate the input. Yes, they’re at $750 for the rack ($900 less a $150 core charge). I spoke with Dan at Jagbits and decided to pull the trigger.

sounds like you already got one, but for future seekers I was able to find a rebuilt unit a few months ago on PartsGeek by a company called Maval for $279. I was on an extensive hunt because I didn’t want to pay almost $1k. It came well packed, with warranty and has worked just fine. Got the core charge back quick as well.

Default Steering rack fault?

It may help others if the reason for the replacement was mentioned. My ‘88 had a leaking steering shaft seal which was an easy and cheap repair.

FYI- that Maval rack you got from Parts Geek is not the same as the ZF rack used on the 92 and later cars. It's an earlier (and more common) unit. They are interchangeable, but the ZF (later style) rack is a much better unit......

Default Steering rack at Parts Geek

Not sure how long ago you got you replacement rack at Parts Geek but they're out of stock now, and the price is slightly higher as well. Higher/lower doesn't matter if they don't have it....

Seems to be out of stock everywhere else too....
