Well Gloria has been great fun fixing up. I've found and fixed a lot.

I discovered the gearshift indicator light not working. I found the wire broke off at the light. Another project, must remove the ski slope to get at it.

The shift lever is working, but stiff, like moving thru molasses. I've changed the tran fluid. I didn't smell bad or look dark. No bits in the filter or on the magnet. But the selector is stiff.

The part number for a cable is MHB4830AA. This fits the 94 4 liter convertible. But it's no longer available.
Help?

 

The selector isn't connected directly to the transmission. It's bolted to the tunnel, and shifts via cable. Perhaps if you spray some WD40, PB Blaster, etc. or put a few drops of machine oil in one end of the cable and work it, it'll loosen up.
