1993 4.0 Coupe - I want to replace the stock wheel with the one shown below. Haven't had any luck finding an adapter. Anyone have any ideas or will I just have to make one from scratch?
Cutting the spline in the boss would require a special broaching tool and indexing head, not an easy task.
If it were easy everyone would do it! I am not considering cutting up the original wheel. There are many wheel adapters available. I found some for older, non-airbag XJS's. Just haven't found one for the '93. Looking for something like this:
anyone know if the early and late splines are the same or are they different? I have a flashpower adapter for my steering wheel, but I own a 77 xjs v12. Site shows up to 1990 compatible.
The steering column in the XJS changed in the early 1990's when tilt adjustment was added, and the columns are not interchangeable (easily) I would bet the later column was exactly the same as the XJ40

I'm not sure I understand. If you have the adapter just take the wheel off and see if it fits.
I don't know if this will help you but here are some pictures of what's in my '93. Steering Wheel Adapter Shaft W/O adapter Shaft with adapter installed
