"In My Opinion", from what I've been seeing at auctions, classified, and what the xj-s convertible sells for is 10 to $12K, coupe probably less, is probably tops in the USA for a car in "concourse", low mileage condition. Anyone that knows the xj-s market can probably get a nice (50k miles) coupe or conv for around $7 or $8K, probably less. "The $15K plus asking price is only dreaming" according to JWM. I personally really don't see the XJ-S prices going up anytime soon.

Not to be disagreeable, but a 4.0L, esp a '96 Celebration Edition XJS-C, with 50K miles will sell for somewhere between $15K and $20K, depending very much upon overall condition. But an older 6.0L with <50K miles can be had for $7K - $8K.

Most of us own our XJS's because we enjoy driving them, not because we thought we could retire early when we sell them. If you enjoy driving yours, aren't squeaky tight on cash and have the garage space, I'd keep it. Then again, that's just me... I love my XJS-C!!!!

I think we'll have to hold on to these for a long time before we see a substantial increase in value. That's fine with me. More cheap parts and cars

I think that any increase in value should concern prospective owners. Those of us who already have one can hold onto our cars. Some one thinking about buying one should take the plunge. I noticed all kinds of car moving up in value, VW vans, beat up Porsche 912s (I could have bought one in "project condition" for less than 1.500 bucks several years ago,) second gen Camaros, MGs and Triumph Spitfires. I always like to say that the time to buy is now. Early XJ6s are starting to go up in price. It will just take couple of celebrities to buy one of those KWE prepped cars and then the prices will take off!

As has been discussed before, nearly every major market, with the apparent exception of the US, has seen significant recent increases in the values of XJSs. My well-known 84k 4.0 AJ16 convertible is on agreed value insurance for $26,000 this year.

And it's not just about RHD vs LHD. There's an XJS specialist in the UK who has been importing LHD vehicles into the UK for sale. Some examples of LHD stock:

95 6.0 convertible mileage unknown - $42,500
95 6.0 convertible 71k miles - $39,250
94 6.0 convertible 53k miles - $45,800
95 6.0 convertible 69k miles - $42,500
94 4.0 AJ16 convertible 89k miles $26,000
95 4.0 convertible 9k miles - $59,000
96 6.0 convertible 6900 miles - $85,000

Yes, asking prices may not equal sales prices, but you don't pitch all your stock massively high unless you know you'll get somewhere close. And selling LHD cars in the UK can't be that easy, so you need to be competitive on price.

So if any US owners want to make some money, just sell your low mileage cars over here!

Paul

Yep, at the Silverstone Classic last year there was a '95 Celebration in the same colour as mine, Looked fairly recently restored. The paintwork still had that "gloss" feel to it.

Interior needed a little work on the drivers seat but it was for sale at £26,000.

Whether they'd ever get that I don't know.

Mine on the bodywork side is suffering but a full "proper" respray is going to cost me £12,000+. I know I'll never get that back but in the last week I've had four lots of people say how beautiful the car is which always makes you feel good
